Hamas is a Palestinian Islamist political and military organisation founded in 1987 as an offshoot of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood. It has governed the Gaza Strip since 2007 and is designated as a terrorist organisation by the United States, European Union, United Kingdom, and other governments, primarily for attacks against Israeli civilians.
Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT, 'Army of the Pure') is a Pakistan-based Islamist militant organisation founded in the late 1980s with support from Pakistani intelligence. It is among the most extensively designated jihadist groups in South Asia and was responsible for the 2008 Mumbai attacks that killed 166 people.
